Weddings in 24 hours

YouTube video

Yes, it's true

We planned a wedding in less than 24 hours.

On February 13th, I received a call from my friend Karen telling me she had proposed to her partner Frances, and that he accepted.  They were getting married on Valentine's Day ~ it was less than 24 hours away.

Where do we start?  A clear mind and a good focus was what was needed.

What did we do?

Karen is a florist so her wonderful designer Clair went to work creating a beautiful bouquet.

As well as floral arrangements at her shop A Sea of Bloom, they sell an assortment of jewelry.  Karen and Frances were able to purchase two unique rings right from her shop.

Food was arranged with the Sooke Harbour House in a very short window, working with the head chef.  Special thanks to them for being so accommodating. The wedding cake was made by Deb Turner ~ Cakes Galore

Special thanks to Scott Osselton for making a delicious breakfast for the bride and her daughter, a great way to start the day!

The ceremony was preformed by Brenda Parkinson in front of the Sea of Bloom Flower Shop.  Along with family and friends, Check 6 News participated in the event.

A beautiful red velvet dress was made by Karen Mason which Karen wore and fit her beautifully.

Jason Van der Valk was on site to take a video of the event.

The busiest day of the year for a floral shop ~ but a wedding too.

At 5:00 the reception was held with us at Sooke Ocean Resort.  We set up the facility with a spread of food, beverages and a display of photos from the wedding for all to see.

Live music played by Levi McEchan.  What a day!

Some brides stress out as their big day approaches.  Karen and Frances did not have any time.

Good friends and the collaboration of business ~ Sooke Harbour House, Sooke Ocean Resort, Cakes Galore, Jason Van der Valk helped to make their day so special.
